For Valentines day the boy and I took a little trip to Oxford.
I know what i'm about to say is going to sound quite extreme but i'm going to put it out there anyway - it was one of the best weekends i've ever had.
A bit of back story for you.
Pre Christmas, JB whisked me away to Bath for a romantic little weekend. It was so nice and festive and we had such a lovely time. Then he went and turned 30 and I decided as a treat for him i'd return the favour and plan a little getaway for us both for Valentines day.
I knew that I wanted us to go to the Soho Farmhouse ever since it opened and we had always said we would go there together so that was a given (more on that soon) but i thought it would also be really nice to spend one night in Oxford town centre first. Also one of my best and oldest friends Mark lives there so it gave us all an opportunity to catch up in one of the most beautiful cities England has to offer.
We checked into our Hotel (
) which i couldn't recommend more if you're looking for a place to stay in Oxford. It's right in the centre so convenient for pretty much everything, has the comfiest beds i've ever experienced and has it's own car park (which is like finding gold in Oxford).
We hadn't eaten yet so we headed straight to the nearest cafe (
) before meeting up with Mark.
Oxford is a special place for me because it's where my dad studied for 3 years and where him and my mum spent a lot of time together in their teenage years/early 20s. The University is made up of 40 or so different colleges. Below is his old college Hertford.
Mark is now teaching Chemistry to the students at Magdalen College. He studied at New College as an undergraduate then went on to do his PHD and can now officially call himself a doctor. BUT he's still one of the most immature people i know though so we get on pretty well.
We wondered through the grounds and came across this lovely little canal. I insisted we play pooh sticks of course... and won (i take pooh sticks very seriously).
JB likes taking photos almost as much as i do which i really love. We want to go on a photography course together this summer so if you know of any good ones (London based preferably) please leave me a comment below!
That evening we went for dinner at a cute French restaurant called Pierre Victoire. I don't really remember the food, nor did i take any pictures but we did find this little pic of dessert. I'm pretty sure we were one of the last couples left chatting away long after this picture was taken <3
